What "No Service Fees" Means at Destination Whatever
The goal at Destination Whatever is simple: no added service fees. You’ll always get the same great value and pricing offered by the travel partners I work with.
That's because I'm compensated by travel partners (tour operators, cruise lines, hotels, etc.) through commissions for handling your booking.
I believe in being completely transparent about how I earn income, so you can book with confidence knowing I'm not working for nothing and you're not paying extra.
When Plans Change
Sometimes life happens. Whether a cancellation is voluntary or unavoidable, it can have an impact behind the scenes. In some cases, a cancelled booking means the commission originally paid to the agent is revoked or cancelled, leaving the work I've done uncompensated.
The concept of a "no service fee" model works best when bookings go ahead as planned but when they don't, a modest cancellation fee helps ensure the time and care that went into planning your trip is recognized.
In rare or extraordinary circumstances (e.g., force majeure), cancellation fees may be reduced or waived at my discretion. Otherwise, the following applies:
Cancellation Fee Schedule
Small Group Tours / Cruises / Sun Packages
- If your booking is in the deposit phase and the deposit is held by the tour operator for future rebooking, I'll waive any cancellation service fee and simply look forward to helping you reschedule down the line.
- If your deposit is refunded, a $25 CAD per person cancellation fee will be applied.
- If your booking is already under cancellation penalty from the tour operator, a $100 CAD per person cancellation fee will be applied.
Custom-Planned Holidays
Perhaps your trip is entirely custom-planned or you have some custom add-ons attached to a tour or cruise. In either case, this section applies to you.
- Because custom itineraries vary in scope and complexity, cancellation fees are quoted individually in the terms and conditions of your proposal.
- These fees reflect the time, research, creativity, and coordination that go into crafting a one-of-a-kind experience.
- Please feel free to ask me for details about how this applies to your specific trip.
A Note About Supplier Fees
The above outlines Destination Whatever's cancellation fee policy. Please note that tour operators, cruise lines, airlines, hotels, and other travel suppliers may have their own separate cancellation terms and fees. These are set by the suppliers and are outside of the agency’s control, but I will always share all relevant cancellation policies with you at the time of booking so there are no surprises later on.
